startADR, within the framework of the program ODR4ALL, invites you to FREE two-hour webinar on the topic: "I shop online, I resolve my disputes online."

The seminar is aimed at every citizen who makes electronic purchases via the Internet in their capacity as a consumer.


PURPOSE

The purpose of the seminar is to inform the consumer about his rights when making purchases electronically through e-shops, as well as how he can exercise these rights by contacting the merchant/e-shop with which he transacted.

Also, the consumer will be informed about how he can resolve any dispute that has arisen from his online purchase without resorting to the courts, out of court, without charge and in a short period of time.

After completing the seminar, the consumer will know:

  • The basic rights granted to him by national and European consumer protection legislation regarding e-commerce,
  • How can he take action to immediately restore his rights as a consumer in the event of infringement by a merchant/online store by submitting an electronic complaint to an electronic dispute resolution platform.
  • How can he specifically submit his electronic complaint to a specific online dispute resolution platform at the national and European levels respectively?

 

CONTENT

The seminar is divided into four sections:

In the first section The legal framework concerning consumer rights in e-commerce will be presented in a concise, simple, yet comprehensive manner, such as correct consumer information, the right to return a product, the right to replacement, the right to a refund, the extremely important right of withdrawal, etc.

In second section The Greek and European legal framework for the electronic resolution of consumer disputes will be presented through the Regulation on Electronic Dispute Resolution of Consumer Disputes (Regulation (EU) 524/2013) and the Directive on Alternative Dispute Resolution of Consumer Disputes (Directive 2013/11/EU).

In the third section The method of submitting an electronic complaint on the electronic complaints platform will be presented. startADR for domestic consumer disputes and the European online complaints platform for cross-border consumer disputes.

In the fourth section Time will be dedicated to discussion, clarifications and answers to any questions and queries regarding the previous sections.

RAPPORTEUR



Dr. Eleftheria Sp. Papadimitriou

Dr. Eleftheria Sp. Papadimitriou is a Doctor of Laws from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Informatics Law) and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the same Law School (Artificial Intelligence and Personal Data). She is a Lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece, a Mediator and a Mediator Trainer. She is the Founder of the Law Firm "Eleftheria Papadimitriou and Associates", riapapadimitriou.gr, as well as Founder and General Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute startADR, startadr.org. She specializes in issues of information technology law, e-commerce, consumer protection, personal data protection, intellectual property, medical law and bioethics, as well as in the field of online dispute resolution (ODR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). She is a member of the “Law & Informatics” Research Group of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a member of the Editorial Team of the Journal “Information Law Journal”. She regularly participates in conferences, workshops and scientific events in Greece and abroad with relevant presentations, while her presentations and studies have been published in reputable Greek and foreign scientific journals. She was a member of the Research Group of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the research program “The Legal Framework of Mobile Applications”. She is also the Coordinator of the Working Group of the "Law & Informatics" Research Group of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Law with the subject of "Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrencies", while she continues her research work in her areas of specialization to this day.
