What is the role of the ODS Facilitator?

The ODS Facilitator is neither a judge nor an arbitrator.
It is neutral coordinator that balances freedom of expression, platform responsibility, and user rights in a field where justice and technology meet.

  • It reviews complaints about content deletion, account bans, moderation policy violations, consumer rights violations, and intellectual property violations.
  • Facilitates resolution with impartiality, transparency and professionalism.
  • Participates in real cases through the online platform  startODS of startADR.

What will you learn?

Legal and regulatory framework

  • Complete deconstruction of Digital Services Act (DSA) with emphasis on articles 20-21
  • Understanding the relationship freedom of expression – platform responsibility – user rights
  • Combination with GDPR, ethics, ADR Directive and other critical settings of the digital environment
  • Practical examples from moderation policies, content reports, account deletions, etc.

Facilitation techniques and mediation skills

  • How do you manage a digital divide? neutral and professional
  • Techniques de-escalation of tension, support for dialogue and respect for the parties
  • Active listening tools, intercultural communication and sensitivity to vulnerable users
  • Understanding the role of the Facilitator as guardian of the “digital due process”

 Hands-on experience and tools

  • Simulations of real cases (TikTok, Instagram, marketplaces, e-shops, etc.)
